Prof. Gheona Altarescu, MD

Prof. Gheona Altarescu, MD, is an expert in preimplantation genetic diagnosis and IVF. At Shaare Zedek Medical Center, she is the director of the Zohar Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Unit, genetics advisor for the Gaucher Unit, and member of the Ethics Committee for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and IVF. She is an associate professor of genetics and the neurological development of children born after preimplantation genetic diagnosis at Hebrew University — Hadassah School of Medicine, and is a member of the doctoral committee for Shahar Tzukerman, focusing on the sociological aspects of preimplantation genetic diagnosis. She serves as an abstract reviewer for the Israeli Society for Fertility and grant reviewer for the Israeli Ministry of Health. She frequently is invited to lecture, publish articles, and collaborate on books, textbooks, and journals. She has received many awards for scientific research papers on genetics, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and lysosomal storage diseases, and has been awarded research grants to promote innovation in genetic diagnosis.
